Everyone in his school believed that it was a woman, and according to Frank, Gerard seemed to Christina Ricci.   Gerard Way Arthur Lee was born on April 9, 1977 in Summit, New Jersey. It is the main vocalist and founder of the banda My Chemical Romance. Gerard is the oldest of two brothers and has Italian and Scots  origins. Gerard Way began singing in fourth grade, when he made Peter Pan in a play at school. His grandmother, Elena, who taught him to sing, was so excited about his role that she made a dress with green mesh. After that Gerard gave  back to sing, saying: "Well, I'm not that strange child singer, I'm in other things like comics and Iron Maiden." Then decided to study graphic arts. Way has always been interested in drawing and comics, because he lived in an area where New Jersey had a lot of crime. After graduating from high school in 1995,  he attended to the School of Visual Arts in New York City and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1999. In 2001, Way said that he tried to sell an animated television series to Cartoon Network called The Breakfast Monkey. He maintains that Cartoon Network rejected the tone, because it was too similar to Aqua Teen Hunger Force, then already in production. The formation of My Chemical Romance: Where were the attacks of September 11, Way was working in the comic industry in New York and could see the horror that occurred in the Twin Towers. This inspired him to "do something with his live", and formed the banda My Chemical Romance. The song "Skylines and Turnstiles" is the first song written by My Chemical Romance, that is about the experince of Way with the incident of 11 s. The name of the banda, suggested by Mikey Way, came from a book written by Irvine Welsh, entitled Ecstasy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance. Gerard brought together Ray Toro, Matt Pelissier (later replaced by Bob Bryar), Frank Iero, and his brother Mikey to play along the East Coast. The band soon released their first album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love in 2002 under the then obscure New Jersey label Eyeball Records label. His music proved to be an effective means to tackle Way in the battle that took a long time against depression, alcoholism, and prescription drug abuse, leading to the creation of deeply personal songs such as " Helena ", written after the death of his grandmother, Helen Lee Rush. Despite his success as a musician, Way has not left behind its design: did all the drawings of the second album, Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge and has designed for its goods and other similar bands. It has also made efforts to raise money through his art for reasons such as the fight against breast cancer. He got married with the bassist of the band "Mindless self Indulgence": Lindsey Ann Ballato or normally called Lyn-Z on September of 2007.
